Dr Maria Larsson, physicist at Sahlgrenska university hospital, presented her research of the novel 10MD products HeadPeace and MindPeace at the international medical congress LINC in Germany. LINC is an interdisciplinary live course that attracts around 5 0000 delegates from all over the that perform endovascular interventions e.g. Vascular Surgeons, Interventional Radiologists, Angiologists and Cardiologists.

”I am overwhelmed by the amount of attention my data has received by the doctors performing the live cases here at LINC2020. This shows the high interest for personal protection equipment (PPE) amongst medical practitioners. The combination of HeadPeace, MindPeace and lead glass shield seem to provide comprehensive radiation protection for the head and neck, however, further studies are needed”, says Dr Maria Larsson, Sahlgrenska university hospital, Sweden.

Personal Protection Equipment (PPE)

In clinical interventions, medical practitioners are subjected to relatively high X-ray exposure. Lead shields and personal protection equipment (PPE) are routinely used, but they are sometimes difficult to position, resulting in potentially high brain doses. To address this situation and potentially improve the working environment, 10MD has designed the novel products HeadPeace and MindPeace. HeadPeace is a head protector covering the upper section of the head and MindPeace is a novel thyroid collar specifically designed and developed to minimize radiation exposure towards the middle and lower sections of the head (patent pending).

Sahlgrenska university hospital and Texray performed in 2019 a phantom study to measure the reduction of radiation exposure of Texray novel products HeadPeace and MindPeace. The scientific data was submitted in December 2019 and was accepted for presentation at LINC (Leipzig interventional course) in Germany. The course took place in January 2020.
