Respondents included doctors, nurses and technicians in radiology, nuclear medicine, cardiology and surgery from several European countries. The study showed a clear pattern that healthcare staff believe current radiation protection garments are hot, heavy and unhygienic.

"The excitement from individuals who took part of this research was amazing. It is seldom we experience this level of engagement. This shows there is a clear customer need for a new material for this type of product on the market", said one of the researchers in ergonomics responsible for data collection.

The market research was performed in collaboration with researchers in industrial design and ergonomics at the Centre for Health Technology Halland (HCH) at Halmstad University and funded by Chalmers University of Technology and by European funds through HCH.
